Weekly Notes for 23rd April 2018

Junior Football Fixture

After the last few weeks playing hurling, the team switched to football this week when they headed to Dunhill last Friday evening for the first round of the Eastern Junior Football Championship. The match was tight in the first half with us going in at the interval trailing 0-05 to 0-01 with the point being scored by Frank McGrath.

The second half saw Dunhill dominate possession and ended the match comfortable winners on 3-14 to 0-05 with our second half points from Paul O’Sullivan, Ross Cuddihy and Frank McGrath.

Under 11 City League

Our U11 Hurlers eventually got there City league up and running on Wednesday last when we played Ferrybank in Carriganore. This was this teams first game of the year after alot of postponements because of the weather. This was always going to be a though game against a good Ferrybank team and although our lads gave a great effort it was Ferrybank who took the win on a score of 2-6 to 3pts.

This team was out again on Friday night when they travelled to St Mollerans to play the home team in splendid sunshine and in beautiful surroundings our lads came out with great determination to show everyone what they were made of. Some great scores and even better defending resulted in a win for Roanmore on a score of 5-5 to 1 goal. Well done to all the boys. The panel for both games was. A.McCabe, D.Barry, K. Kavanagh-Drennan, C.Melo, A.Furlong, C.Marks, B.Meistas, S.Murphy, C.Reville, È.McHugh, D.Ryan, D.Hearne, M.Walsh, E.Burke and A. Dobbyn.

U10 County Blitz

On Saturday in splidid sunshine our U10 Hurlers played in a County Hurling Blitz in Carriganore. We fielded two teams in this blitz and each team got to play 3 games each. Some outstanding hurling by both our teams saw them come away with victory in all there matches. Well done boys.

U9 Hurling

Our U9 Hurlers were also out on Saturday last with 1 team in Cleaboy taking on Ballygunner. This was an excellent performance by the boys who are coming on with each week. We had another team travel to Clonea this was very young team mainly u8s and against a physical stronger opposition they tried very hard. These games will be of great benefit to all the players.
