Weekly Notes for 4th September 2017

Commiserations to Waterford Hurlers

It was a titanic struggle at Croke Park last Sunday but unfortunately our hurlers lost to Galway. All our club members would like to thank the Waterford hurlers and the management team for all their efforts in 2017 and all the enjoyment that following Waterford entails.

Minor Hurlers top of the table

Our Minor hurlers travelled to Tramore last Wednesday evening and came away with a 2-21 to 1-07 victory to see them sit top of the table. Both teams were competitive with only three points separating the teams at halftime but the second half was dominated by our players.
We were in the lead as early as the second minute when Jamie Daly fired into the net and points from Sean Burke cemented the lead. Tramore were competitive in the first half and scored a total of 1-05 to our 1-08.
If the first half was tight then immediately from the second half throw in our players imposed themselves on the game and scores from Cian Wadding, Jake O’Sullivan, Brian Cooke, Conor Ryan to name a few saw us score a total of 1-13 in the second half while our defence restricted Tramore to two points.

Charity Blitz

This coming Saturday 9th September sees Roanmore host the 22nd annual hurling blitz. The organising committee has been working extremely hard over the preceding months to ensure that this event occurs and is run smoothly on the day. We will have in excess of over 100 clubs participating on the day and we woul like to thanks anyone involved in logistical work on the day and Hillview Residents for the use of their green for parking. This is a great community event that all the children will benefit from.
